What you will do in your working day

The successful applicant will be required to work as a key member of staff.

The role will require the ability to work in a team but also to be disciplined and motivated whilst working independently.

The role will allow you to gain experience in all yard duties.

Duties will include but are not limited to: 

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out and catching horses
  • Grooming and bathing
  • Assisting with feeding and watering
  • Monitoring horses health and welfare and assisting with visiting professionals i.e. vet, farrier, Physio
  • Plaiting and trimming
  • Lungeing horses for exercise
  • Maintaining the yard to a professional standard
  • The option to attend day shows to gain experience as a show groom – if desired
  • Any other reasonable tasks/duties as required by your employer

The training you will be getting

  • Level 2 Diploma Equine Groom
  • Level 1 Functional Skills maths
  • Level 1 Functional Skills English
