    Salary will be £17,888 per annum pro-rata for 36hrs in the first year.

  • Working week

    07.00 - 16.30, Monday to Thursday (30 min lunch off the clock) 9hr day. 07.00 - 11.00 Friday, 40 hours per week. Whilst at the training centre it will be 36 hours a week.

What you will do in your working day

Your duties will include:

  • To set and maintain production machines to produce quality parts.
  • Conduct daily / weekly maintenance duties.
  • Work with production staff to resolve technical and setting issues within a manufacturing environment.
  • Fault-finding and root cause analysis for production issues.
  • Give constructive feedback to maintenance and factory management on production issues.
  • Undertaking bench fitting, pneumatics and tool setting.
  • Learn Lean Manufacturing techniques (5S, SMED and Poke Yoke) to apply to production areas.
  • Understanding of measuring methods and associated equipment.

The training you will be getting

This Apprenticeship Standard is delivered within the workplace, where the Apprentice will complete a Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative competency and knowledge qualification. IPS will support and train the learner through the component aims with monthly monitoring and assessment visits to the workplace. This will prepare the learner for End Point Assessment that is required for this Apprenticeship. 

To complete this Apprenticeship, the learner must pass Level 1 English and maths (or have the appropriate transferable skills). 

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Upon successful completion of their apprenticeship, the production candidate can pursue a career in production, setting and operating production machinery; progress to production technician or production engineer; or, move to a maintenance role. within operations to various departments, analysing the various processes and make the various improvements needed to ensure production volumes are maintained.
