What you will do in your working day
As a level 2 apprentice print finisher with Quarmby Colour, you will aim to become a highly skilled member of our finishing team. We are looking for a level 2 apprentice print finisher who is seeking a career in the print industry. We are dedicated to investing in our employees, continuously developing a skilled workforce. This position is ideal for individuals interested in a hands-on approach and are proud of the finished product they have helped produce to a high standard. You'll be a crucial part of our production team, learning everything from print finishing techniques to quality control and machine operation, all within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Daily tasks would include but not be restricted to the following: - Use our IT system to assist in workflow prioritisation. - Learn to use all our cutting (CNC) and laminating machines. - Assisting the finishing team in setting up various machines. - Checking work is of the highest standard ready for despatch. - Banner finishing. - Working with a variety of materials. - Taping and collating. - Accepting deliveries. - Packing and despatch. - Along with any other ad hoc duties within the finishing department. Training: In addition to your role-specific training, you'll participate in off-the-job training to broaden your understanding of the print industry and our business operations, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.
The training you will be getting
Apprenticeship Standard for Print Operative Level 2 (print finishing). A full plan will be created at the start of the apprenticeship to provide information as to what you will be studying and when. BPIF will deliver the theoretical knowledge for your print apprenticeship. This teaching and training will cover everything from health and safety and general industry practices to specific industry practices. This will lead you to preparation for your end-point assessment, which consists of an online exam, professional discussion, and observation in the workplace. You will be allocated a designated tutor and workplace mentor who will support and guide you through the apprenticeship. There may also be an opportunity to obtain your forklift licence.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
You will become a highly skilled member of our print finishing team with chance to progress to level 3. Ultimately this may lead to becoming a Print or Pre-Press Operative.
