What you will do in your working day

Role & responsibilities

  • Diagnosing breakdown problems and fitting new parts to ensure the equipment is working correctly
  • Carrying out quality inspections on assigned jobs
  • Liaising with various operational departments, the engineering team and customers as required to arrange specialist procurement of fixtures, fittings or components
  • Designing maintenance strategies, procedures and methods
  • Understand the fundamentals of the operation of the equipment and machinery within their area
  • Controlling maintenance tools, stores and equipment
  • Writing maintenance strategies to help with installation and commissioning guidelines
  • To carry out any other duties that may be required by the company

The training you will be getting

  • You will study on a Level 3 Engineering Technician standard on a Mechatronics Maintenance pathway.
  • On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Advanced Level 3.

During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. After this, you will attend the Training Centre for one day a week for knowledge study.
