What you will do in your working day

Typical day-to-day duties will include:

  • Preparing, controlling and conducting manufacturing operations Checking materials
  • CNC router
  • CNC Laser
  • Turret Punch
  • Press Break
  • Welding
  • Paint Coating
  • Assembly
  • Finishing operations

The role will be varied, gaining skills and experience within the different manufacturing work centres including CNC router, CNC laser, turret punch and press brake, welding, paint coating and assembly.

The apprentice will gain a thorough understanding of metal fabrication designs and principles, engineering drawings, processes and quality control and will become fully skilled in setting and operating machines to produce components.

The training you will be getting

This is a level 2 Lean Manufacturing Apprenticeship delivered over a period of 12 months. The apprentice will be required to attend a one-week induction at the training centre, In-Comm Training Services in Telford TF3 3AJ as part of the training. 

2 week block release which will include health and safety, working safely, employment right and responsibilities, safeguarding, equality and diversity, prevent agenda and British values and continuous professional development. The successful candidate will not only complete their lean manufacturing operative level 2 apprenticeship but will also gain qualifications in Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills). Dependent upon prior qualifications learners may also need to complete functional skills in maths and English.

Initially, we expect apprentices to be employed as a manufacturing operative and, for the right candidate, they will have the opportunity for further study and progression within the team.
