What you will do in your working day

Duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Measurement of drawings
  • Cost Control
  • Sub-Contractor Order Placement
  • Pre-start meetings
  • Variations
  • Valuations
  • Final Accounts
  • Client interactions
  • Sub-Contractor Disputes
  • Contracts
  • Progress meetings
  • Understanding of site processes plus much more.

An average day would be depending on the business needs, working alongside either a QS or Estimator to take off measurements for tendering or work on live schemes. Both involve cost control, sub-contractors, rates, planning, programming, as well as client side.


The training you will be getting

  • The Apprentice will work towards their Apprenticeship Standard in Construction Quantity Surveying Technician Level 4
  • The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated assessor who will provide support and guidance throughout the course. This is a Day Release programme which means you will attend Lincoln/Newark College, 1 day per week, term time only. This will fall within your contracted working hours.

Things to consider

We may wish the applicant to have 1 or 2 months site based so they understand how construction is completed and understand time processes for elements of construction as this is invaluable when progressing through your career to enable you to understand pricing and programming.
