This civil engineering apprenticeship is based in our Brightwell office providing the opportunity to obtain a Civil Engineering Degree and achieve incorporated status of the Institute of Civil Engineers. Apprentices will be trained in the use of software include AutoCAD draughting and the 3D modelling of highways and drainage.

What you will do in your working day

  • On a daily bais, apprentices will learn to produce engineering designs and present them on drawings.  This will quickly develop onto the detailed design of drainage solutions and 3D modelling of infrastructure.
  • Apprentices will assist Engineers with developing design strategies and detailed designs for projects and site visits as required.
  • From working in design teams the successful candidate will also progress to managing their own projects and teams within the course of the apprenticeship.

The training you will be getting

  • Over the period of the apprenticeship, a wide range of skills and experience will be provided including team working, people and project management, sustainability and knowledge.
  • At the same time, apprentices work towards their Civil Engineering Degree for one day a week for three years and a further year to achieve the status of Incorporated Engineer.
  • Incorporated Engineer is a prestigious professional qualification within the Institute of Civil Engineers and is recognised internationally.

The Incoprorated Engineers qualifiction is protected by law and becoing IEng qualified shows your current and future employers, clients and peers tthat you are a competent engineer with professional standards.  As well as being highly sought after in the domestic and international job markets IEng status can provide a career path on to a fully chartered qualification at the height of the civil engineering profession.
