What you will do in your working day

Renaissance is a busy hair salon trading for 10 years, and are now looking for a dynamic and hungry applicant to join our friendly team.

They will be hard working and committed to excel as a hair professional, and will reap the rewards by building their own clientele once qualified.

Day to day duties include:

  • Greeting clients
  • Shampooing and conditioning hair
  • Ensure the salon is kept clean
  • Shadowing senior stylists
  • Reception duties
  • Offering refreshments to clients
  • Good time keeping is essential, as are good communication skills
  • Good organisational skills are a must as well as being able to follow instructions

The training you will be getting

  • Hair Professional Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard
  • Diploma for Hair Professionals - Hairdressing Level 2

What will I study?

This apprenticeship will give you the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to work as a Hairdresser and will include:

  • Professionalism and standards
  • Behaviour and communication
  • Safe working practices
  • Consultation
  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
  • Cut hair using a range of techniques to create a variety of looks
  • Style and finish hair using a range of techniques to achieve a variety of looks
  • Colour and lighten hair using a range of techniques
  • Perming hair
  • Observations and knowledge tests will be used to assess skills, knowledge and behaviours required for the Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals

Method of delivery:

  • Hairdressing apprentices attend College on a day release basis and work for their employer for the rest of the time. If required Functional Skills are delivered as a separate block release

How will I be assessed?

  • Continual assessment will take place throughout the duration of the apprenticeship. If required, the Functional Skills are assessed through on-line tests
  • The End-Point Assessment (EPA) will consist of observation and questioning whilst working on 2 models and will last a maximum of 6 hours

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • The applicant will reap the rewards by building their own clientele once qualified
