What you will do in your working day

Your average week will see you working with a wide range of children in a number of settings, largely primary school based.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Delivery of a range of interventions to support targeted pupil learning
  • Support the care of children at breakfast, after school and holiday clubs
  • Support the delivery of PE lessons
  • Lead extra-curricular activities
  • Run/organise and support physical activity and engagement at break and lunch times
  • Run/organise intra school competitions
  • Assist with school games competitions
  • Use of technology to engage pupils with physical activity and sports
  • Support after school and school holiday activities

The training you will be getting

  • Level 2 Community Activator Coach Apprenticeship Standard
  • On successful completion of the Standard, all Apprentices will be automatically given CIMSPA (Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity) at Affiliate Member level.
  • Level 2 Award in Multi-skills Coaching/Development in Sport (optional and subject to a £50 certification fee)

Sector specific CPD, such as;

  • Supporting the PE curriculum
  • Behaviour Management
  • Practical PE Curriculum
  • Gymnastics
  • Dance
  • Safeguarding / Prevent
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Functional skills in maths and English (where required)
  • Training will take place remotely at the same time every week.
  • There will also be face-to-face skills festivals and opportunities to meet with your tutor and other apprentices in your area.
