What you will do in your working day

We are seeking a commis chef to join our kitchen team at the Sheppey in Lower Godney, working directly with the head chef to produce high-end food, with the meticulous presentation our customers expect.
You will be joining a fun and lively team, who enjoy working with fresh local produce in our semi-open kitchen & we do not expect any staff to work on Christmas day.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting head chef
  • Keeping work area clean and hygienic
  • Stock rotation
  • Preparation of starters and desserts
  • Cooking a variety of dishes

The training you will be getting

  • Training within the college once a week and learning on the employer site following an appropriate training plan.
  • Functional Skills maths and English if required.
  • A Commis Chef level 2 qualification will be achieved upon completion.
  • Strode College will be managing the applications for this vacancy.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • There is a potential for the right candidate to progress to a Chef de Partie apprenticeship, leading on to a Junior Sous Chef position.
