We are looking for an enthusiastic person keen to learn more about Stockport’s thriving voluntary (VCFSE) sector. The successful candidate will provide support to Stockport’s Volunteer Hub, matching Stockport residents with volunteer opportunities for a wide range of community groups, charities and events.

What you will do in your working day

  • Help with volunteer enquiries online, email & telephone
  • Have training to hold 1:1 appointments (telephone, virtual, or face-to-face) with those interested in volunteering
  • Update and maintain the Volunteer Hub calendar to make sure we don’t double book one 2 one appointments and allocate enough time to help people match with volunteer opportunities in Stockport
  • Work with individuals to match them with a suitable volunteering opportunity using conversation templates and skills learns in training provided by the Volunteer Hub Lead
  • Use Sector3’s IT systems, such as our CRM, to input data and record activities on a regular basis
  • Help the Volunteer Hub Lead to collect evidence for reports measuring impact
  • Capture Volunteer stories and experiences to add to the Volunteer Hub website, regular bulletin and social media
  • Support Volunteer Hub Lead with social media entries and maintenance of website including keeping on top of new volunteer opportunities added to make sure we have all of the right information to help with recruitment
  • Attend any outreach events to promote volunteering such as running stalls at Volunteer Fairs, information sessions and our yearly volunteer celebration
  • Support the running of drop in sessions in community settings such as libraries
  • Support Volunteer Hub Lead with delivering volunteer related projects such as training days, aimed at breaking down barriers to volunteering
  • Attend Volunteer Managers Network Meetings with Volunteer Hub Lead, taking notes of conversations and collating evaluation / feedback from attendees

The training you will be getting

This apprenticeship provides on the job training in a variety of skills including customer service, admin and social media, providing a Level 2 Customer Service Qualification on completion.

Functional Skills English and Maths if required.

The role is 37 hours a week (full time), which includes 7 hours dedicated learning time per week - either completed at home or at Trafford and Stockport College premises.

The role is based in Stockport with travel required around the various neighbourhoods in the area (accompanied by the Volunteer Hub Lead).

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Depending on funding, this apprenticeship could progress into a longer-term position.

The diverse skills and experience gained through the apprenticeship will see the apprentice in a solid position to work in a variety of settings including an office environment or out in the community working with individuals.
