What you will do in your working day

Each days tasks will vary but will include: 

  • Using a cement mixer and power tools
  • Physical tasks such as shovelling and using a wheelbarrow
  • Assisting the team leader in the building of gardens

The training you will be getting

Upon completion, an apprentice will gain the following qualifications:

  • L2 Horticultural Operative Apprenticeship Standard
  • Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work
  • Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides Guidance OR Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides
  • Functional Skills in maths and English (if applicable)

A mix of online knowledge delivery and weekly practical learning will be provided at Plumpton College, this will include skills and knowledge assessment and practical learning period qualifications. Quarterly workplace competency and efficiency observation and assessments will also take place.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, the apprentice will be offered a full time position as a skilled landscaper.

Things to consider

Transport from our base to work sites will be provided, however, the apprentice will need to be able to get to our base at TN6 1QU each morning, therefore reliable travel is advised.
