What you will do in your working day

  • Performing routine inspections such as checking fluid levels, tyre pressure & various vehicle systems for wear/damage
  • Assisting with diagnostic tools to identify issues in engines, transmissions & electrical systems
  • Conducting basic repairs by replacing parts, such as brake pads, belts & filters
  • Performing maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tyre rotations & battery replacements
  • Observing & assisting maintenance technicians to learn from mechanics & technicians as they complete more complex repairs & maintenance procedures
  • Keeping the workspace clean & organised by maintaining a safe & tidy working environment, cleaning automotive tools & equipment, dispose of waste & storing items
  • Attending training sessions & participating in classes to develop technical skills & monitor industry advancements

The training you will be getting

  • The Successful Candidate will work towards a Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician qualification.
  • Before the Standard is met, all apprentices must hold a certificate that meets the EU’s 2014 F-gas regulation.
  • Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship English and maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3 and British Sign Language qualification are an alternative to English qualifications for whom this is their primary language.
