    You will work Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an hour for lunch. Occasionally you will be invited to attend training, networking or social events outside work hours, during the week.

What you will do in your working day

  • Managing telephone calls and dealing with clients on reception;
  • Using office equipment such as computers printers, scanners and photocopier
  • Undertaking basic administration tasks such as dealing with post, linking documents to files, ensuring files are kept in good order, photocopying and scanning documents
  • Maintaining databases to ensure that they are up to date and accurate
  • Assisting in maintaining compliance with Lexcel quality standards
  • Getting files ready for billing & assisting with the billing process
  • Preparation of documents for Court (mainly Court bundles)
  • Managing fee earners’ diaries
  • Corresponding with third parties used by the firm
  • Maintenance of files
  • Typing for fee earners as and when required
  • Collating and extracting information as required from files or other sources
  • Ordering stationery

The training you will be getting

  • You will receive a level 3 award in Business Administration following the successful completion of your apprenticeship
  • We have identified an excellent online course for you so that all of your training can be done in the office
  • You will, of course, receive on the job training
  • We will provide you with the equivalent of one day a week for your training with the provider and a room in which you can study separately when necessary

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

About the employer

We are a small firm, based in the Jewellery Quarter, just outside Birmingham City Centre. We specialise in Children, Education, Employment and Discrimination Law. Most of our work is covered by Legal Aid, which is funding provided by the government for people on low incomes. We have an excellent reputation and are very busy.
