    Annual holiday entitlement of 25 days per calendar year increasing by 1 day annually to a maximum of 30 days + bank holidays (total 38 days). Also a Discretionary bonus, free on-site car parking, free hot meals and refreshments

  • Working week

    Mondays to Fridays between 8.15am and 5.30pm, which includes the paid 1 day release attendance during term time. We are open all year except for 1 week between Christmas and New Year and Bank Holidays.

What you will do in your working day

  • An average day/week is very rewarding. The apprentice will be shadowing the mentor learning the ropes. You will engage with children in their activities, eventually being able to plan activities with guidance from the mentor. 
  • You will provide daily caring health and hygiene routines.  You will be  a role model supporting, encouraging and educating the children in their care to grow and learn in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework.
  • You will be a partner with parents/carers, colleagues and management, and will have a lot of interaction with them in the daily role.
  • To implement policies and practices concerning child care, ensuring that individual needs are met within a stimulating environment. Ensuring that children are supervised at all times and encouraged to participate in daily activities.
  • To liaise and communicate with parents, reporting on the child’s well-being and relaying messages.
  • To observe the progress of each child and to report to the Room Leader areas of progress or concern.
  • Plan activities with children, in line with their personal interests, age, abilities, and understanding.
  • Promote positive language and communication skills to support children’s understanding of good social conduct, and enhance their ability solve problems, express their needs, and manage their feelings.
  • To carry out development meetings with parents, as well as arrange transition meetings with parents/carers when new children are joining the group.
  • To keep records of designated children’s development in regards to the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum Guidance.
  • To liaise with outside agencies in regards to the development or the well-being of a child. This may include participating in writing development plans and taking up relevant training.
  • To ensure that activities are ‘fun time’ without placing pressure on the child.
  • Encourage positive and inclusive attitude in children, and promote good social skills
  • To safeguard children, make sure that you and anybody involved in the care and education of the young children

The training you will be getting

  • You will achieve an Apprenticeship in Early Years Educator level 3 via a work mentor and day release to CRC

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Once qualified, the apprentice will be offered a position in our nursery. Career progression is encouraged. Many of our apprentices have progressed to Room Leader and Deputy Room Leader positions.

About the employer

We are a day nursery located within walking distance of the city centre, riverside and green lands in a quiet neighbourhood. We care for up to 57 children, most of them attending full time. There is a maximum of 18 children in the Under Twos Room, and maximum of 39 children aged under 2 years old, in the Explorers and Pre School Rooms. Our motley crew of fun-loving team members make everyday a great day for both staff and the children and their families. We aim to give our best as professionals in our specialism.
