What you will do in your working day

  • Apprentices in this role work under the guidance of experienced machinists to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to produce precision components used in various industries such as automotive, aerospace, and medical devices
  • Operate CNC machines according to instructions provided by supervisors or work orders
  • Set up CNC machines including loading cutting tools, fixtures, and workpieces
  • Monitor the machining process, making adjustments as necessary to ensure quality and accuracy

As well as gaining a broad range of professional knowledge and experience, you will gain academic and vocational qualifications such as the CNC Machining Apprenticeship Standard, Level 3 NVQ Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering- pathway CNC Machining and Level 3 extended diploma in machining.
