What you will do in your working day

You will learn how to:

  • Read and interpret technical drawings
  • Read and interpret gas-flow and wiring schematics
  • Solder and braze precision assemblies
  • Intricate plumbing of compressed gas systems
  • The use of a lathe, pillar drill and other machine tools
  • How to check your work and measure performance against test procedures and specifications
  • Assemble and test delicate mechanical devices
  • Put together wiring assemblies, including the use of crimps

With such a variety of low-volume, high-value products, no two days will be the same.

Signal Group Ltd develops and manufactures gas analysers for the professional testing of VOCs, vehicle and engine emissions, tobacco smoke, impurities in special gases, power station emissions, catalyst efficiency, and boiler/burner combustion emissions. We offer service and maintenance contracts with complete customer support and often offer back up instrumentation in the event of failure. Other services provides include system audits and linearity checks using high stability analysers and traceable gas standard.
