What you will do in your working day

Come and join us! Our supportive and successful SEND team are looking for an apprentice. You will be committed to supporting the young people of our school with additional learning needs.

The aim of the Student Support Department is to provide all students with whatever additional support they may need during their time at Ringwood School, in order that they can achieve to the best of their ability.

Teaching Assistants are involved in activities such as the following:

  • In-class support of students with a wide range of special educational needs
  • Working with individuals and small groups in the Student Support base (known in school as The Hive)
  • Following specific intervention programmes, dependent on experience and areas of expertise 
  • Supporting students with homework at lunchtimes or after school
  • Differentiating teaching materials
  • Liaising with subject staff
  • Reading and / or scribing for students sitting tests and external examinations
  • Completing reports for review meetings
  • Taking part in in-service training and attending department meetings
  • Contributing to meetings with parents and external professionals as necessary
  • Supporting the students in working towards their targets

This involves regular catch-ups, check-in emails and calls. Your employer will agree to give you 20% of your working hours solely towards your study.

This will give you every chance to achieve the highest grade possible! On completion of this 18 month apprenticeship you will have gained; Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship.

Things to consider

Working hours Please note that anyone under the age of 18 can only work a maximum of 40 hours per week. Any role which exceeds these hours should be amended accordingly, to fall in line with the legislation.
