What you will do in your working day

You will work as a member of the nursery team to ensure that all children attending the setting receive high quality care, are kept safe and receive rich and stimulating play experiences which meet their individual needs, using our “image of the child” status.

Your role will include;

  • Work as a team with other staff members.
  • Be responsible for participating in all self-development activities including appraisals, supervisions etc.
  • Ensure the companies policies on diversity and equal opportunities are adhered too.
  • Provide high standards of quality within the nursery including the environment, resources and experiences offered to children.
  • To observe, support and extend children’s learning.
  • Plan for children using the Early Years Foundation Stage Guidance.
  • Maintain accurate and effective children’s records.
  • Work in partnership with parents/ carers and other family members.
  • Demonstrate good practice with regards to special needs and inclusion.
  • Ensure children’s nutritional needs are met.
  • Where appropriate develop relationships and work with area SENCO’s, Early Years Advisory Teachers and other professional agencies.
  • Keep up to date knowledge about current developments in childcare and education policy and practice. 
  • Be a key person carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with a small group of key children and their families.
  • Develop and promote parental partnership and involvement.

The training you will be getting

This involves regular catch-ups, check-in emails and calls. Your employer will agree to give you 20% of your working hours solely towards your study.

  • Early Years Practitioner – Level 2
  • Functional Skills in English and maths if required

Working hours Please note that anyone under the age of 18 can only work a maximum of 40 hours per week. Any role which exceeds these hours should be amended accordingly, to fall in line with the legislation.
