What you will do in your working day

A strong support network is available to the successful candidate, which will ensure confidence and independence is fostered.

Key responsibilities:

  • Undertake day to day nursery duties, ensuring a high standard of care and opportunities for development are maintained.
  • Become familiar with and use the Early Years Framework used in the setting.
  • Support children with social, emotional and their well-being and ensure safeguarding protocols are adhered to.
  • Support the class teacher to plan, deliver and review activities and learning opportunities for both indoor and outdoor learning.
  • Assist with the personal needs of the children with guidance from mentor.
  • Forge strong relationships with parents/carers and effectively communicate with them regarding their child(ren).
  • Ensure robust observation and assessment is carried out in a timely manner to inform future planning.  
  • Any other requirements of the qualification being completed.

The training you will be getting

  • Early Years Educator Level 3 (A level).
  • Attending online workshops from the College once a month, delivered through EKC Gorup.
  • College Trainer visits to the workplace once every 6-8 weeks. 

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Could lead to a permanent role. 
  • Progression to a level 4 qualification.

About the employer

Greatstone Primary School is a Foundation School with ten classes and approximately 250 children. We also have a 40 place Nursery on site. We are a well maintained rural school set in large open grounds close to the sandy beaches of the south east coast and the unique landscape and nature reserve at Dungeness. The school has good access by road and is about 30 minutes drive from both Ashford and Folkestone. The School and Nursery have a very good reputation within the local area and is renowned for the excellent behaviour of its children and the high expectations of its staff.
