What you will do in your working day

Working with your mentor you will become an expert in identifying damaged mechanical and electrical components on a vehicle. Able to demonstrate expert working knowledge in relation to the removal, repair and replacement of engine, gearbox, suspension, mechanical and electrical systems. This includes:

  • Assessing faults
  • Accessing and removing mechanical and electrical components
  • Removing and fitting non-structural body panels
  • Removing and re-installing mechanical and electrical systems
  • You will eventually be able to remove and refit any part relating to the vehicle, to the correct alignment. Using the latest tools and technology

Our training is conducted in partnership with Thatcham Research.  Thatcham are the organisation responsible in the UK for developing Repair Technologies and setting industry standards. Technical experts working in their fully equipped and ultra-modern repair technology centre produce a wide range of vehicle repair data. This repair data is used by the automotive industry to help facilitate the safe and effective repair of modern cars including electrification and driverless vehicle technologies.

Things to consider

This apprenticeship is physical with a large amount of standing during the working day. Equipment is available to help lift heavy loads but manual lifting is required
