What you will do in your working day

During your apprenticeship, you will gain insight into the business operations by rotating through various departments. This comprehensive exposure ensures a solid understanding of our processes, supports your apprenticeship journey, and integrates you as a key team member.
You will be trained to assemble and integrate electro-mechanical and pneumatics modules, along with other high precision mechanisms, essential for the production of medium-sized capital equipment. Additionally, you will acquire skills to conduct tests and troubleshoot electro-mechanical and pneumatic subsystems, prepare necessary documentation, and validate testing apparatus.


  • Preparing work area for component or assembly task; sourcing required resources, tools and equipment.
  • Carry out relevant planning and preparation activities before commencing work activity and know how to source required resources and interpret detailed drawings, specifications and job instructions.
  • Checking tools during and after task completion; identifying and reporting defects.
  • Problem solving; analysing the issue and fixing the issue where appropriate.
  • Communicating with colleagues or customers (internal or external).
  • Completing component or assembly documentation for example job instructions, drawings, quality control documentation.

The training you will be getting

You'll be studying at the Innovation & Technology, one day a week at Milton Keynes College for the Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship. 

Throughout your apprenticeship you'll get:

The training provider will choose one of the following qualifications: 1) Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) – Awarding organisation EAL; GLH 750, or 2) Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge) – Awarding organisation Pearson; GLH 720 or 3) Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) Awarding organisation City & Guilds; GLH 720.
