Receptionist/Administrator required for small friendly doctors surgery. This is a fast paced post where you will be checking in and greeting patients, taking telephone appointments, dealing with patient queries, producing prescriptions, scanning and other associated admin work.

What you will do in your working day

·       Using a clinical computer-based appointment system to check in patients and book appointments.

·       Producing electronic and manual prescriptions.

·       Dealing with patient queries.

·       Scanning into medical records.

·       Working early some days from 8am and finishing on some days at 6.30pm.

·       Typing referral letters using Microsoft Word.

·       Data inputting and data entry.

·       Dealing with incoming and outgoing mail.

·       To comply with the practice procedure for the registration of new patients, temporary patients, private patients and those seen as emergency or immediately necessary.

·       To comply with practice protocol for the collection of results from the hospital on a daily basis and advise patients of any action/advice requested by the GP.

·       To comply with all relevant practice procedures, regulations and protocols and to maintain confidentiality at all times with particular reference to patient records.

·       Electronically filing of documents.

·       Checking and actioning practice emails.

·       Inviting patients annually for their medical reviews.

·       Dealing with petty cash.

·       Other associated admin duties as required.

·       Health & Safety: To follow the health and safety policies and procedures of the practice and any national and local guidance and regulations.

·       To actively identify and report any health and safety hazards to the Practice Manager Equality and diversity.

·       To act in a way that recognises the importance of people’s rights, interpreting them in a way that is consistent with practice procedures and policies, and current legislation.

The training you will be getting

The successful apprentice will be enrolled on the Business Administrator Apprenticeship Level 3 with PMA Ltd.
The apprenticeship will be a work-based apprenticeship and the learner does not attend college but completes the apprenticeship whilst in the workplace - method to be confirmed.
Functional Skills in English and maths if required.

In house training in all aspects of reception work/admin work.

Online Mandatory training via training portal.

Some training may be offered via the Training Hub at the discretion of the Practice Manager and business needs.
