    Salary from £12,314 up to £22,313 per annum, dependant on level of experience/ prior qualifications. Plus pension scheme & employee assistance programme.

  • Working week

    Monday to Thursday 8:30am - 5:00pm. Fridays 8:30am - 4:30pm. With a one hour lunch break each day.

What you will do in your working day

Day to day role responsibilities include:

  • Purchase ledger – entering purchase invoices onto the system and ensuring these are correctly authorised
  • Sales ledger – raising sales invoices 
  • Credit control – chasing payment of outstanding invoices
  • Cash receipting – recording cash received
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with month end journals for management accounts – accruals, prepayments etc

The training you will be getting

  • The apprentice will be working towards the Accounts or Finance Assistant Level 2 apprenticeship standard
  • Functional Skills in maths and English, if required 
  • All delivered within the workplace via online training and at Colchester Institute Campus
  • Qualifications include: AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.
    Colchester Institute have partnered with Mindful Education to deliver this apprenticeship through our Online and On Campus model
  • Classroom attendance at Colchester Institute (Colchester Campus) every other week

Things to consider

The college will be implementing new finance software (Bluqube) from 1st September. The apprentice will initially be mainly doing purchase ledger but once the new software is in place much of the process will be automated so there will be scope to then get involved in other tasks.
