    Candidates will be offered a seasonal contract asap starting on £10.60 rising to £11.50 in April with a formal start date for the apprenticeship being in the summer.

  • Working week

    Monday - Friday 8.00am - 4.30pm Overtime will be offered and some weekend work may be required.

What you will do in your working day

An exciting opportunity to gain an apprenticeship with one of the UK’s leading nurseries supplying ornamental plants to the best retailers in the country. 

You will carry out a range of critical nursery duties including: 

  • Irrigation 
  • Feeding 
  • Potting 
  • Trimming 
  • Spacing 
  • Despatch 
  • Pest and disease identification 
  • Biological pest control 
  • Spraying 
  • Record keeping 

The training you will be getting

  • Crop Technician Level 3 

Level 2 Awards in: 

  • Safe Use of Pesticides 

On completion of the pesticides foundation unit above also choose one of the following units: 

  • Boom sprayer, mounted, trailed or self-propelled equipment 
    Granular applicator equipment 
  • Handheld applicator equipment 
  • Level 3 award in Emergency First Aid at Work 

Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths (GCSE grade 4 or C or above) will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end point assessment. 

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Key grower, team leader, supervisory and management positions are all possible for the right person.

Things to consider

The role requires you to work outside, inside polythene tunnels and inside glasshouses. These are physical roles requiring lifting and bending.
