What you will do in your working day

At St Andrews CE Primary,  apprentices are an integral part of the nursery team. You will hit the ground running in your Early Years career, whilst being supported and nurtured along the way. 

  • Be a creative and inspirational role model for our children.
  • Learn how to deliver a holistic approach to the curriculum, ensuring the environment offers rich, first-hand learning opportunities for all children.

The training you will be getting

  • The Early Years apprentice will work towards a Level 2 Early Years practitioner qualification via Weymouth College and will at the same time have formal training delivered by St Andrews CE Primary.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

You MUST be prepared to commit to your work and training for the duration of the apprenticeship. You will be required to attend an interview and assessment at Weymouth College prior to your application being passed on. If a suitable candidate is found prior to the advertised closing date, it may close early to avoid disappointment.

About the employer

We are a large primary school serving the parish of St Andrew’s and St Francis with children and families joining our school community from a wide area in Weymouth. Our pre-school, the Mulberry Bush, joined the academy in September 2018. We have 10 classes for 2022-2023. You will notice that we use the sea as a theme across the school; all classes are named after a sea creature and the classes are grouped into: Early Years - pre-school and Reception Key Stage 1 (KS1) - three mixed Year 1 and 2 classes Lower Key Stage 2 (LKS2) - three mixed Year 3 and 4 classes Upper Key Stage 2 (UKS2) - two Year 5 classes and one Year 6 class We are part of the Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust (DSAT). We joined the Trust in the summer of 2017. DSAT is comprised of 23 schools based in Dorset and Wiltshire. We are part of the Bay Hub of schools that includes Beechcroft St Paul’s, St John’s, Beaminster St Mary and we are about to welcome St Nicholas and St Laurence join us. As the Bay Hub we work closely together as a learning community.
