What you will do in your working day
Key Responsibilities for the role will include, but not be limited to:
- Assist in maintaining and developing the safe, educational ‘Learning through Play’ environment.
- Assist trained staff in planning and recording the activities offered to each child.
- Be aware of Health and Safety issues and keep children safe in the Nursery.
- Prepared to take on any relevant duties determined by the employer from time to time.
- Attend whole staff meetings and assist with events outside Nursery as and when required.
- Be prepared to train in Paediatric first aid, safeguarding children, and basic food hygiene.
- Liaise and communicate with parents/carers on a child’s day in the Nursery, their well-being and development.
- The Nursery will offer you PFA, Food Hygiene, Child Protection and Manual Handling within the first 3 months of you joining the Nursery.
- You must have a smile that makes each child feel special.
- Be prepared to be questioned by the children in the nursery such as, what do you eat for lunch, where are you going, who is your friend, and do you live in the nursery?
- You must be kind, gentle and be prepared to get down to a child's level and let them immerse you in their play.
- We need an inspiring individual who can use their initiative, understand individual child's needs and tune into their imagination.
The training you will be getting
You will work towards an Early Years Educator Level 3. Apprenticeship course, including Paediatric First Aid. You will have a dedicated industry expert to guide and coach you through components of your programme and you'll experience a range of different learning opportunities.

You will be given the opportunity to develop your training on the job, through attending various training on offer, using your time out to keep your training up to date.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
If you complete your level 3 qualification and prove to be a competent practitioner, you may wish to work up to the level of a deputy room leader and then room leader in your job progression.
