You will also gain the knowledge on how to maintain a site and what requires attention on each visit in order to maintain the high standard we produce.

What you will do in your working day

You will be taught how to use a range of tools like hedge cutters, streamers, push mowers and possibly our larger ride on mowers.

The Junior gardening position is to work in a team of two or more with our experienced gardeners and work alongside them. The average working day includes tasks include:

  • The removal of weeds
  • Hedge trimming
  • Steaming
  • Reseeding
  • Grass cutting
  • Planting

We normally attend 3-4 smaller sites in a day or 1-2 larger sites. Unless you are specifically placed in our largest site in Maidenhead where you will be at that site everyday Monday to Friday then your working week will vary with locations and activities.

The training you will be getting

  • Level 2 Horticulture or Landscape Construction Operative
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths if required
  • One day a week theory and practical in Berkshire College of Agriculture (BCA)

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

We can offer either a possible permanent employment with the company or if by decision of the apprentice a further higher-level apprenticeship if available.
