What you will do in your working day

Day to day duties will include:

  • Cutting material for machining components
  • Machining of components on manual and CNC machines (turning and milling)
  • Learning to interpret technical drawings
  • Working to tight machining tolerances
  • Hand fitting and assembly of components

The training you will be getting

  • Apprentices will work towards achieving the Level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeship Standard
  • They will attend Derwent Training one day a week to meet the off-the-job training requirement of the Apprenticeship Standard

The Apprenticeship Standard will include the following:

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Machining (EAL)

  • Level 2 units
  • Level 3 units
  • Workplace Portfolio of Evidence to meet Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours
  • End-Point Assessment

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • To become a full-time Machinist with Unison Ltd upon completion of the Apprenticeship
