We are looking for an apprentice butcher to join our friendly team of staff! A full-on training and focused programme will be offered. All skills will be taught from breaking down whole animals, to boning skills, to sausage making, to cutting into portions.

What you will do in your working day

You will be working with our experienced butchery team learning the following:

  • Receiving and accepting stock
  • Mincing meats, making sausages and sausage meats
  • Preparing orders for wholesale customers
  • Cutting, slicing and dicing all meat types
  • Cleaning as we go
  • Picking, packing and labelling skills
  • Telephone skills, invoicing and administration skills

The training you will be getting

  • Butcher Standards Level 2 Qualification
  • FDQ Level 2 Award in Food Safety
  • FDQ Level 2 Award in Health and Safety
  • FDQ Level 2 Award in Knife Skills
  • Level 1/2 Functional skills in English and maths if required

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

To continue to work and develop their skills with us after the apprenticeship finishes. They will begin to learn more business and admin related skills as they develop with us. We are looking at this as a long-term opportunity.
