They are currently on the lookout for Mechanical Design Engineer Apprentices to join the team in Leighton Buzzard as part of the Cabin Products, Interior - A350 Galleys for Commercial Airlines. Could this be you? This is what you will be doing in the role:

  • Conduct detailed Design Work
  • Assembly Layout
  • Systems Engineering
  • Configuration Control, creation of Drawings, technical support and other related responsibilities
  • Formulate designs for component parts and assemblies for products
  • Make layout assemblies and detail parts of devices, mechanism, structures, and products to be used in engineering designs
  • Investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost
  • To assess feasibility for production and ensure designed products
  • Achieve quality standards and business objectives of the organisation
  • Develop basic data, and make preliminary layouts, prepare sketches and complete detail and layout drawings, under direct supervision, to be checked for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specification, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning
  • Conduct analysis to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems and components
  • Support the Engineering Design team delivering any given projects on time, on budget and on quality

The training you will be getting

Level 3 Engineering Technician - Technical Support - Mechanical Pathway Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths if required.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

On successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, the company will look to migrate you into a full time position within the business depending on your skill sets.

Candidates must carry out an initial interview with a member of Bedford College. Only candidates who have fully completed the application will be considered.
