This position involves working as part of a large team, you will assist in such tasks as completing general vehicle servicing, maintenance tasks such as van & vehicle servicing, cambelt renewal & completing repairs. You will be involved in the service, diagnosis, maintenance & repair of all types of vans in our busy repair workshop.

What you will do in your working day

Duties may include:

  • Helping with servicing of national fleet vehicles
  • Assisting in testing and fitting of brakes for various vans and vehicles
  • Looking at and learning the Software and Diagnostics & Ford IDS- Specialists in Ford Diagnostics Systems
  • Air Conditioning and Air con recharge
  • Suspension- book servicing of new and old vans
  • Batteries- test and checking of these
  • Lifting of Van engines in and out of vehicles
  • Anything and Everything to do with Vans from repairing, fixing and servicing, large or small.

The training you will be getting

  • Level 3 Motor Vehicle service technician apprenticeship training
  • Functional Skills in English and Maths ( if required)

As part of the apprenticeship programme, attendance is required at our Skills Group training centre for one day per week. All other aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site by the employer. You will have regular visits every six to twelve weeks from your designated Skills Group assessor, who will monitor your progress during your apprenticeship training.

You will come into Skills Group once a week to do your training at our Plympton site. 

To have additional training with LKQ group throughout your career in diesel engines, diagnostics and powertrain to upskill yourself and to have further development in your skills.

With the potential to stay on at the garage and learn how to undertake further qualifications to enable to qualify as specialist vehicle technician. To have additional training with LKQ group throughout your career in diesel engines, diagnostics and powertrain to upskill yourself and to have further development in your skills.
