What you will do in your working day

Working as part of a small team, you’ll be responsible to carry out all aspects of highways tree maintenance, including the following:

  • Use of chainsaws
  • Tree climbing and aerial rescue
  • Storm clearance
  • Stump grinding
  • Tree planting and young tree maintenance
  • Operate light plant and power tools
  • Drive, operate vehicles, plant, machinery as required
  • Install and maintain traffic management systems
  • Carry out any other duties which may reasonably be expected/requested
  • Undertake vehicle and small plant checks
  • To keep records, complete all necessary paperwork, communicate, and liaise with other employees of Amey, subcontractors, the emergency services, the general public, clients and customers

The training you will be getting

  • As part of your Apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto a nationally recognised qualification of Horticulture or Landscape Construction Operative Level 2
  • Your Apprenticeship typically takes 24 months to complete and is fully supported through a combination of regular online lessons, e-learning materials, and access to their team of experts for 1-2-1 advice and support
