What you will do in your working day

  • Designing Heating and Hot & Cold water services to all types of dwellings using specific CAD based software
  • Gain in depth technical knowledge of renewable heat sources especially Air Source Heat Pumps as we move forward in reducing carbon emissions
  • Liaing with manufacturers, housing developers  and installers to deal with questions relating to our designs
  • Occasional site visits to inspect installations for compliance with our designs, BSEN standards and Building Regulations

The training you will be getting

  • You will be working in our open plan office in Kidlington along with our team of 11 staff for 4 days a week and attending college for 1 day per week during term time
  • Day release college will be in Paddington London
  • Initial qualification will be Level 3 in Building Services Engineering (HVAC) covering subjects such as Construction Principles and Design, Building Services Science and Health and Safety

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Once qualified you will be able to join the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) at entry level
  • The right person will be able to continually broaden and inrease their knowledge and be given their own clients to manage and build relationships with
  • The UK is working towards the Future Homes Standard which starts  in 2025 with new technologies  to heat our houses,provide hot water and ventilate them with the aim to become nett carbon zero by 2050 so plenty of oppotunities

About the employer

We are a small but long established company of Building Services Consulting Engineers specialising in the residential sector. We work for housing developers, installers and manufacturers of Heat Pumps to provide indemnified designs that are used to install heating and hot& cold water services to thousands of new build properties each year. We have 11 staff, many who are long serving and last year we celebrated our 30th anniversary. We work in a open plan office with a good working environment. With the strive to reduce carbon emissions with the change from gas to electricity as the main fuel source this is an exciting time to be involved in this sector.
