What you will do in your working day

  • Plan and assist in delivering technical and design information in completing each stage of a project
  • Produce simple design calculations and CAD drawings in a form that another member of staff can readily check 
  • Prepare detailed estimates and produce information on quantities and types of materials required for the safe construction of projects
  • Assist the team in managing the flow of information within agreed timescales 
  • Work as part of a larger team to deliver projects
  • Monitor the progress of technical aspects of construction work and report any potential issues to the Senior Structural/Civil Engineer 
  • Ensure the correct and timely recording, filing and storage of information
  • Follow instructions from senior staff but be confident enough to ask for an explanation when required
  • Work towards completing your degree apprenticeship, both in the academic modules, as well as the recording of ‘on-the-job’ experience and ‘off-the-job’ development activities to work towards your End Point Assessment
  • Complete your timesheets in an accurate and timely manner

The training you will be getting

  • You will gain a Civil Engineering degree apprenticeship with a Bachelors qualification
  • After completing your End Point Assessment, you will become an Incorporate Engineer with ICE 
  • As an ICE-approved employer, you will continue your professional development towards Chartered status
