    £6.40 ph. This role is term time only and therefore the advertised salary is pro-rata based on the term-time only nature of this role.

  • Working week

    Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm. Term time only. Hours are negotiable, to be discussed at interview.

What you will do in your working day

Under the direction of the SENDCo, contribute to inclusion approaches in the school by addressing the needs of students who need help in overcoming barriers to learning and developing their potential both inside and outside the classroom.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Support for Individual Students:

  • To ensure that all students are engaged and learning in their lessons
  • To provide academic support to increase attainment and engagement
  • To mentor students on the GCSE Core Curriculum
  • Working directly with other staff and parents to improve individual student behaviour
  • To support the successful integration of students who have joined the school under difficult circumstances
  • Working directly with individuals or groups to raise self-esteem and confidence
  • To Mentor specific students whether 1:1 or with small groups as directed

Support to School:

  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons you are responsible for or, come into contact with
  • Be aware of, support and ensure equal opportunities for all
  • Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
  • Recognise own strengths and areas of expertise and use these to advertise and support others
  • Be aware of and comply and assist with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
  • Recognise own strengths and areas of expertise and use these to advise and support others
  • Assist with student needs as appropriate during the school day

In addition:

  • To comply with the requirements of Health and Safety, or relevant legislation of the school documentation
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties within the overall function, commensurate with the grading level and responsibility of the job

The training you will be getting

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard
  • Functional Skills in English and maths Level 2 if required
  • End Point Assessment: Practical workplace observation; Q&A session; Professional Discussion.
  • Blended on/off the job training and location to be confirmed.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Further training to specialise in specific areas of SEND
  • Employment within the school. Both our previous apprentices have stayed on and secured permanent contracts at our school.
