What you will do in your working day
Triton Power are looking for an Apprentice Safety, Health & Environment Technician to train for a career in the power industry.
As an advanced apprentice you will study towards an NVQ Level 3 qualification, covering health, safety, and environmental management, while earning a wage and gaining valuable work experience.
Based at Saltend Power Station in Hull, East Yorkshire you will be working alongside a mentor and assisting with the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of a multi-million-pound production facility to supply process steam and power to the adjacent chemicals park, and electrical power to the UK electricity market.
The SHE Technician will work with the operations team to advise on the statutory health, safety, and environmental requirements. They will assist the operations team in ensuring that the legal and company SHE requirements are implemented.
The SHE Technician will assist to develop, review, and check on the implementation of safe systems of work, deliver training (e.g., toolbox talks & inductions), investigate incidents, analyse data and present findings. The SHE Technician will engage with all aspects of the organisation to support the embedment of SHE culture. This will be achieved by inspiring and influencing others to see the benefit of working responsibly, understanding the legal framework, and showing how safety, health and environmental management can enhance operational activities.
This may include some aspects of working at height and shift work. PPE is required when working onsite and with chemicals. This is a 24/7 industry; this position requires the person to be flexible and work unsociable hours if required.

The training you will be getting
The apprentice will undertake an NVQ qualification & gain professional qualifications in IOSH Managing Safely & the NEBOSH general certificate as part of their off the job learning. The IOSH & NEBOSH qualification is widely recognised within industry & gives the apprentice lots of knowledge around legislation, risk assessments etc.
The apprentice would be supported by a dedicated assessor who will complete visits & reviews to ensure all work is timely & to the highest standard.
You will undertake the Level 3 Safety, Health, & Environment Technician programme
On completion learners will be able to join the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) at Tech IOSH level. They will also be eligible to join the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA) at Affiliate level.
