What you will do in your working day

Your key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Post & match purchase invoices to GRN’s & orders
  • Dealing with short deliveries and price changes and any other supplier queries
  • Paying suppliers to agreed terms
  • Reconciling supplier statements
  • Allocating customer payments to the correct accounts
  • Day to Day credit control i.e. sending copies of invoices and chasing debt
  • Setting up customer accounts
  • Obtaining credit references and credit reports when required
  • Setting credit limits and managing according to the company’s credit policy
  • Sending monthly customer statements
  • Dealing with supplier and customer telephone calls/emails
  • Producing reports for monthly meetings (Aged creditors and debtors)
  • Processing Fixed Assets monthly depreciation
  • Debit/Credit notes for Dewhurst Group plc and Dewhurst Ltd.
  • General accounts filing
  • Role progression to other areas in accounts available
  • In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the jobholder s required to perform other duties assigned by the line manager from time to time
  • The jobholder should be aware of and comply with company and statutory requirements regarding health & safety, fire and hygiene

The training you will be getting

The Level 3 Assistant Accounting Apprenticeship gives you the theory and on-the-job training to make you an asset in any organisation. With an Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification you’ll gain the practical experience and knowledge to pursue accountancy as a career. You’ll become a skilled professional with the A-Level-equivalent certification employers want.

  • Learning style – live online training, online content and coaching
  • Duration – typically 15 to 18 months
  • Level 2 Functional Skills maths
  • Level 2 Functional Skills English

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
