What you will do in your working day

Breedon is a home for inquisitive learners. Quarries, cement, and construction are no longer old-fashioned sectors. We’re providing the foundation for our lives, building the places where we live and work, play and in-between.

As an Apprentice surfacing operative:

  • You will support the vital need to be involved in the surfacing, resurfacing and improvement of vast stretches of roads and the highway network
  • You will help with the removal of old roads and surfaces, preparing for the new surface, complete inspections, and testing of the new surfaces
  • You will learn how to operate a wide range of specialist plant machinery such as rollers and spreaders

The training you will be getting

Level 2 road surfacing qualification as well as with industry experience at the largest independent construction materials group in the UK. 

  • Attend Telford College for approx 10/12 blocks, 1 full week at a time
  • Travel, accomodation and meals will be provided whilst at College from Tuesday to Friday
  • Development of a portfolio of evidence ready for the
    end point assessment
  • Practical training using a spreader/paver
  • Functional skills in maths and English is needed

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • There are a wide range of opportunities to progress within Breedon Group
  • You could move into a Supervisory roles or into Management at a later date
