    -Salary from £17,500 to £22,000 depending on contract hours. -Pay raises to national minimum wage in year 2. -25 days of annual leave. -Fully funded driving lessons. -Generous pension scheme.

    Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week, shifts TBC. Opportunity to work weekends, evenings, overtime and standby when 75% through your apprentices and over 18 years old due to site restrictions.

What you will do in your working day

Each day will bring new challenges and you will be given new learning experiences.
Training for this post will be across all aspects of our practical construction business to ensure you become a multi-skilled, knowledgeable construction operative.

What will you be doing?

You will be:

  • Carrying out excavation works, general concrete works
  • Doing plant operation, slinger/banker duties
  • Pipelaying (drainage and water mains)
  • Carrying out enabling works (roads, kerbing, paving)
  • This role involves traveling to construction sites so if you don't yet have a driving licence we will pay for your driving lessons

The training you will be getting

Training will take place at Bridgwater & Taunton College:

  • Block release – 2 weeks every 2 months
  • Residential
  • Classroom and practical
  • On site assessor visits.

Qualifications you will receive:

  • Groundworks Apprenticeship level 2 issued by CITB
  • SHEA Health and Safety Card
  • Technical training such as; manual handling, working at heights and other core courses around health and safety

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

On completion of your apprenticeship become a fully qualified Construction Operative.

Things to consider

This role is regional so you will be expected to work anywhere within the Wessex Water region, which could be anywhere between Bristol and Bournemouth and Salisbury across to Taunton. If you don't yet have a driving licence we will pay for your driving lessons as you are required to drive for this role.
