What you will do in your working day

You will be working as part of a team of experienced Early Years Qualified staff supporting children’s care and learning using a play-based and nurturing approach.

Undertake a shared responsibility for the care of children, health, safety, safeguarding and cleanliness throughout the setting

You will actively work through the qualification with the qualification provider and the setting achieving a Level 2 in 12 months.

Starting at 08.30, helping set up the learning environment including setting up activities and interest areas, checking the environment for any hazards and removing them, observing and supporting children’s learning, recording progress.

Preparing snacks and setting up for lunches, maintaining a clean and hygienic space through daily cleaning, loading/unloading dishwasher and washing machine.

Reading stories, responding to children’s play cues and emotional needs, helping with behaviour strategies, toileting and personal care and supporting children’s outdoor play and learning.

The training you will be getting

You will spend 12 months attending college once a week on a Tuesday to acheive a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner qualification. This will be at Bath College (Somer Valley campus)

Things to consider

The job involves working with young children both inside and outdoors. There will be expectation to provide appropriate level care in all aspects which may include help with toileting, changing nappies, wiping runny noses etc. Children may occasionally need to be lifted e.g. into a highchair. Equipment needs to be moved / resources set up & cleared

Bath Area Play Project is a small voluntary organisation and registered charity whose purpose is to provide a range of services for disadvantaged and disabled children, young people and families as well as support for whole families. Led by a passionate and experienced Trustee and staff team, we use play as a positive catalyst for engagement and empower change using a strengths-based approach with effective and caring staff. As a child-centred organisation with a strong inclusive ethos across all our projects, we provide early help and non-judgemental support for children and families at the time they need it. Our services are accessible and community based, supporting change, improving outcomes and enabling children to thrive. We provide many services including: • an Early Years Setting, open term time only and Ofsted registered for children aged 6 months to 4.5 years • Support for schools through Nurture Groups, individual play support and alternative provision • Support for families with children with SEND and additional needs providing short breaks on Saturdays and in school holidays
