What you will do in your working day

Responsibilities:

  • Looking after the dogs in the day care
  • Running activities and enrichment sessions
  • Playing with them, keeping them entertained, and making sure they are happy
  • Cleaning the facility and equipment amongst other duties. Bonus points if you are good on social media and can take photos on your phone!

The training you will be getting

Level 2 Animal Care & Welfare Assistant apprenticeship standard, including:

  • Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours
  • Level 1/2 Functional Skills Maths (if required)
  • Level 1/2 Functional Skills English (if required)
  • End-Point Assessment

Things to consider

A passion for animal care and determination to learn is what we look for! It is essential that you are comfortable dealing with a large group of excited and playful dogs! You must be able to think fast and remain calm in any situation to always ensure the safety of all the dogs. You will be required to study and attend a Canine First Aid and CPR course. Within the day care, our staff to dog ratio is 1:10 and you will be part of a team working together each day. You should also be happy working in any weather as no matter how hard it rains or how cold it gets, our dogs have still got to be exercised and looked after throughout the day!
