What you will do in your working day

Duties may include...

  • Working in our Concrete, Aggregate, Asphalt or Building Products manufacturing sites
  • You will gain knowledge and understanding of our products, production process, quality control, logistics and complaint handling ​
  • You’ll have the opportunity to visit different sites within our region or BU to develop your business knowledge and share any best practices you observe. We’ll value you as a fresh pair of eyes to support the site teams in improving quality, we want you build the confidence to challenge, think about new ways of working and help our business to improve! ​
  • You’ll support Technical Managers to manage their teams and functions whilst being involved in contracting functions such as contract vetting and estimating ​
  • You’ll be involved in all things technical from product sampling and testing, record keeping and tracking data, and investigating customer complaints with management
  • You will play a key role in important projects to help improve the way we work and deliver added value ​
  • You’ll play an important role in driving a positive culture, challenging us when something doesn’t feel right, or where there are opportunities to improve our safety performance ​Taking pride in all work completed and being determined to succeed!​

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • After successful completion of apprenticeship, you will be given the opportunity to move into a full time position as a Technician
  • Future progression opportunities in Tarmac are widely available with experience and include roles such as: Senior Technician and Technical Manager

Things to consider

The role includes working both inside and outside in all months of the calendar. The role involves traveling to different sites. Age: 18 due to working on plant sites and using equipment. Driving License: Required by 31 August 2024 based on being able to travel to various locations.
