The training you will be getting

Level 2 Technical Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering
(Developmental Technical Knowledge)

This knowledge qualification is designed to give apprentices the theoretical and underpinning knowledge required to support them in their workplace, the qualification is delivered at one of our centres and is classroom based, theory delivery by one of our industry experts.

Year 1 - September – July

  • Unit 201 - Working in Engineering
  • Unit 202 - Principles of engineering technology
  • Unit 255 - Principles of fabrication and welding technology
  • Unit 214 - Welding by MIG process
  • Unit 215 - Welding by TIG process
  • Unit 217 - Fabrication sheet metal work
  • 3 x Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations (skills) as outlined below

Performing engineering operations will be delivered at one of the centres during the first year of the apprenticeship. These are designed to embed the foundation practical skills that apprentices will need to support them in their workplace activities.

Year 1 - September – July

  • QPEO2 - 022 Producing sheet metal components
  • QPEO2 - 028 Preparing and using manual TIG
  • QPEO2 - 029 Preparing and using semi-automatic MIG, MAG, and Flux cored arc welding equipment

Year 2

  • Working in company towards end point assessment, additional classes to support this preparation.
  • End Point Assessment

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Full time job at the end of the apprenticeship.
