What you will do in your working day

  • Working with your Mentor to deliver Substation Layout Designs for clients such as National Grid, Electricity Northwest, Morrisons Energy Services and many more

  • Utilising AutoCAD for primary engineering design, ensuring adherence to the process

  • Learning about Primary Design Electrical in a Mechanical Format for a variety of customers with varying standards from 400kV to 33kV

The training you will be getting

  • Electrical power networks engineer (level 4)
  • Training will be at Wigan and Leigh college one day per week, however if travel is a problem, alternative locations can be discussed.
  • Office location is in central Irlam, easily accessible by public transport and also has free car parking.
  • Travel to client sites may occasionally be required

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Apprentices can expect to graduate on to complete a degree in the subject if preferred
  • After 7-10 years the apprentice may choose to become chartered, where they can become an EngTech or after a longer period become a Chartered Engineer.
