What you will do in your working day

Main Duties:

  • Work under the supervision of a skilled machinist to learn and develop practical skills.
  • Complete all tasks set by the supervisor.
  • Work closely with staff to foster professional values and build good relationships.
  • Observe health and safety guidelines at all times.

The training you will be getting

  • The learner will be studying the Machining Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.
  • Day release to West Suffolk College.
  • Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • On satisfactory completion of the apprenticeship a long-term contract will be offered.

Things to consider

This role will involve programming on a computer screen, learning to use and program 3,4 and 5 axis CNC machine tools. Handling steel and using power tools, cleaning of machines and sweeping the floors.
