What you will do in your working day

  • Supporting and improving current Tooling maintenance program across site
  • Maintaining tooling and controlling ongoing preventative maintenance working
  • Develop key spares area and control of stocks – clear links with suppliers
  • Supporting any break downs to reduce downtime – lost time on machines
  • Supporting new work and business opportunities with Engineering team
  • Supporting tooling buy off and home line production runs to approve tool changes and new tooling
  • Working with all teams across site to ensure we work safely and follow on site PPE and all equipment is in safe condition to use

The training you will be getting

Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with us, which are fully paid for, including: 

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)  – off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham in year 1
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) 
  • Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
  • In house training in line with your requirements

About the employer

We are a engineering business producing parts for Large Engines, non-automotive fabrications for a wide range customers using Power Presses, Brake Presses, laser cutting, spot welding and Mig – Tig welding to produce small to medium size parts. We have been based in Birmingham for over 125 years with a great DNA for future opportunities. We began life manufacturing bottle stoppers – hence our name! However, we soon diversified into the manufacture of metal components. At first, we focused on bicycle parts and later the motorcycle industry. Over the years we’ve come to be known as guarantors of press and machining quality in every sector.
