What you will do in your working day

  • Providing challenging and stimulating activities for all children appropriately.
  • Supporting children’s learning and development, including supporting planning and observations.
  • Preparing and maintaining the environment and resources for the children.

The training you will be getting

  • You will be supported by an assessor throughout your apprenticeship. As you progress through your apprenticeship your duties and responsibilities will alter as you develop the skills for a successful career in childcare.
  • Your classroom days will be based in central Birmingham taking place once a week for the first 13 weeks.
  • You will gain an NVQ Level 2 Early Years Practitioner qualification with options of progression afterwards.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

During this apprenticeship in childcare, you will have access to excellent training and development opportunities within the role, with the potential to progress on the Advanced Diploma. You can also work as a nursery practitioner, classroom assistant or a pre-school practitioner.

Little Ripley Day Nursery at Warren Road was opened in February 2004. We can accommodate 55 children in 5 bright and spacious rooms. We also have a specialised computer room and a well stocked library. We have an experienced team of staff, who make it their priority to build special bonds with children and families, so the transition into nursery life is a much easier and stress free process. Our extensive garden has different areas to accommodate all our children. We promote active learning through play and exploring to help all our children achieve their full potential whilst in our care, offering experiences such as educational visits, language lessons, music sessions, cookery lessons and a variety of sensory experiences.
