What you will do in your working day

Assist in providing comprehensive IT support, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.

Play a pivotal role in improving the business's cybersecurity measures, focusing on Microsoft 365 security tools and features.

Involve in the configuration and maintenance of Microsoft 365 applications, emphasizing security and data protection (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Desktop Apps).

Contribute to securing our Microsoft RDS and Access EasyBuild accounting system against potential cyber threats.

Support the management of device configurations and enhance security protocols using Intune.

Collaborate in the implementation of IT strategic plans with a key focus on developing robust cybersecurity frameworks.

Participate in specialized training sessions and workshops centered around cybersecurity, Microsoft 365, and other relevant technologies.

Actively ensure adherence to the latest best practices in IT security, data protection, and compliance.


The training you will be getting

A Standard contains a list of the skills, knowledge and behaviours an apprentice will need to have learned by the end of their apprenticeship.

The ICT apprenticeship focuses on the knowledge, skills and behaviours outlined in the Apprenticeship standard. By the end of the practical period your apprentice will have an understanding in all of the knowledge, skills and behaviours to include:

  • Approaches to back up and storage solutions.
  • Basic elements of technical documentation and its interpretation.
  • Principles of root cause problem solving using fault diagnostics for troubleshooting.
  • Principles of basic network addressing,  for example binary.
  • Basic awareness of the principles of cloud and cloud-based services.
  • Fundamental principles of virtual networks and components.
  • Principles of cultural awareness and how diversity impacts on delivery of support tasks.
  • Methods of communication including level of technical terminology to use to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Different types of maintenance and preventative measures to reduce the incidence of faults.

Key principles of security including the role of People, Product and Process in secure systems forexample access and encryption requirements.

You will have a dedicated Tutor and Assessor - you will be invited into college once a week for taught session where all of the knowledge of the apprenticeship standard will be covered. The will be at our Filton Campus on a Wednesday.

The assessor will guide and support you to evidence the skills and behaviours through your role in the workplace.
