About the employer

'DS Electrical started in our garage at home,' Darren says. 'How funny when I look back now and see what it has become, having moved to a purpose built unit at Daddon Court on the Clovelly Road Industrial Estate, "something I have always wanted." We outgrew our premises at Pitt Lane in Bideford about 2 years ago but soldiered on especially when the economy took a turn for the worst we feared the move may never happen but in July 2009 it did.' With 21 full time employees DS Electrical carry's out all forms of electrical contracting works, "whether it is Domestic, Industrial or Commercial we can help" says Darren. We have carried out some major works for customers in the past but this doesn't stop us from carrying out small works as well, we offer a call out service 24 hours a day 365 days a year - yes you can get us on Christmas day! D S Electrical prides itself on being NICEIC Compliant (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting) but also is NICEIC Domestic Installer compliant known as Part P. 'Unfortunately,' Darren says, 'A lot of people still don't realise you need to have an approved contractor in your home to carry out work and it isn't until they go to Building Control or try to sell the property that the problems start.' D S Electrical is fully CHAS accredited (Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) and has Trustmark, a Government scheme to assist customers in finding a reputable contractor. D S Electrical have recently been completing a lot of work for Tesco Superstores across the country, and have now started working for Morrisons and Sainsbury's, including the Sainsbury's store in Barnstaple and the Morrisons Fresh Produce Warehouse in Bridgwater. More locally D S Electrical have carried out installation works in Let's Go, The Waterfront and a number of local schools. Darren has now decided on a new venture, a "Design and Consultancy Section". He says, 'Bring us a building and we will design a full electrical installation to meet your needs.
